Work has progressed well despite poor weather conditions including cold, frost, wind and rain and some of the time lost in delays before Chrismas has been caught up.
Concrete works have been completed for the ILB ramp and continued onto the eastern capping beam working south.
The majority of the underground drainage and service ducts have been installed, allowing capping layers of hardcore to be laid and compacted in preparation for the building concrete works to commence next week.
The building slab will be constructed in segments; with the eastern segment of reinforcement steel being fixed next week while the preparation works and remainder of drainage and service ducts continue on the west side of the building.
Preparation works for the ALB ramp install have also continued. The final row of piles have been trimmed and painted within the tidal windows. The steel framework for the ramp is due to arrive shortly and work will begin installing it. A good proportion of this will be in the tidal area and below the current level of the beach. A mobile crane will be used to offload and position the first two bays of the ramp whilst large excavators will install from the beach and complete required excavations.
