Roof progress

Wednesday 25 Aug 2021

Extensive scaffolding has been erected around the site to allow the roof to be constructed. Planking for the roof deck has been completed across the main boat hall and remainder of the building and then a weatherproof membrane installed above it to protect the timber before the external roof panels are fitted.

Internally, the layout of the ground-floor of the new station is clearly visible along with the platform for the public viewing gallery. Two strong metal beams have also been installed for lifting equipment to help with servicing and repairs to the inshore lifeboat and forthcoming Shannon class all-weather lifeboat
