A number of retired and restored historic lifeboats are kept at Wells and in local harbours, and several more are regular or occasional visitors.
In particular, Wells' former station boat, the Oakley class 37-15 Ernest Tom Neathercoat, has been restored and is moored on Tugboat yard at the quay and sometimes takes part in displays on open days and harbour events. She has been joined in 2015 by the 1940 Liverpool class Lucy Lavers, a Dunkirk veteran and former Aldeburgh station boat which served at Wells on relief in the 1960s. The privately-owned Rother class, former Moelfre lifeboat 37-34 Horace Clarkson is also often moored in the harbour.
