Tide levels on the Granary

Tide levels on the Granary

Wells' flood defences did their job during the surge tide but levels at the quay were if anything pushed up by the beach bank not being breached and by the moveable flood barrier successfully keeping the water away from Freeman Street. The result was that the quayfront itself had a higher level than the historic flood of 1953 although 2013 affected far less of the town and caused far less damage.
