Nelson's Shantymen performing at Wells Sailing Club
The Burnham Thorpe-based Nelson's Shantymen entertained a lively crowd including many of the lifeboat crew and their families at Wells Sailing Club on Saturday 5 July. A superb fish-and-chip supper was provided by French's Fish Shop, the bar was kept busy and a good many of the audience ended up adding their voices to the shanties and songs.
During the evening, Marcus French generously promised to donate the cost of the catering, while the band decided to waive its fee, both in aid of the Shannon lifeboat appeal. We'd like to thank them and the sailing club for the generous use of its facilities. Our thanks too to those who kindly donated raffle prizes including The Crown, The Victoria at Holkham, Pensthorpe, the Thursford Collection and Bewilderwood, All in all, the event raised at total of £961 for the fund.
